The first time I booked this train, it got canceled the day before due to weather so I was excited to finally ride it and it did not disappoint. I chose the dining car which seats 24 with couples and bench seating. The food was excellent and paired very well with the lush landscape beyond the large windows. Like most tourist trains, the part I enjoyed most was the stops.
Having the fortune of perfectly sunny weather, the breathtaking view at Kuwagawa station where the blue sky meets the blue water looks like a scene straight out of a movie. The half hour stop felt like a blink. Further on we were treated to more stunning views of the Sea of Japan where beach goers waved to us as we passed by. I disembarked early at Atsumi Onsen station to catch another train so I intend to partake in the full journey next time.
