Setsugekka

Echigo Tokimeki Railway’s Setsugekka boasts the largest windows in Japan. Unfortunately for me, they were half covered on my journey due to the scorching summer sun. There are so many thing to like about the train and journey that could fill an afternoon. The most unique is the stop at Tsutsuishi station.

The station is special because it is one of the deepest in Japan. More than that, the steps leading down onto the platform looks like something out of a horror movie. Passengers are highly encouraged to wait inside a designated room because limited express trains will fly by the station at dangerous speeds except said room feels like a nuclear bunker adding to the already creepy atmosphere.
