In which I almost got left behind. During the stop at Omigawa station, I got so caught up taking pictures, the train started to depart without me. I waved frantically at the operator and had to wait a minute while they verified that I am indeed a passenger, before opening the door to let me on. Definitely won the baka prize for the day. In my defense, please look at that vista of the sea. Its tranquility is simply enchanting.
The theme for the train is sake as demonstrated by the barrel shaped tables in the cafe car and some passengers were not shy to take advantage of it in the morning. Included with your ticket is a sample which an attendant carrying a tray offers to everyone.
A school girl saw the train by chance during a stop and the conductor took the time to engage her. I hope she will ride the train some day.
