Two Stars

One thing I love about Japanese trains is that they can do both. One can hop between Takeo Onsen and Nagasaki quickly via the Kamome or one can take a serene journey via the Two Stars. The name refers to the number of prefectures it passes through because it would be at least four stars going by experience.

The wooden interior paired with soft lighting really draws attention to the elegant details throughout which intensifies as one steps into the lounge car. Here the wooden lattice screen shades move in multiple directions, the floor is tiled in colorful mosaic, and there’s even a giant TV.

My favorite part is the stop at Konagai station. Situated along the coast, one can grab magnificent views of the sea from the walkway above the tracks before retreating back to the plush sofas.
